Each year, over 1.5 million people in America suffer from a brain stem injury. It’s estimated that more than 2 million American currently live with some form of disability as the direct result of a brain stem injury.

The occipital lobe is located at the back of the brain. It is associated with interpreting visual stimuli and information. They are the center of our visual perception system.

The temporal lobe is located near the bottom of the brain. This lobe is important for interpreting sounds and the language we hear. The hippocampus is also located in the temporal lobe. It is associated with the formation of memories.

The cerebellum is located just above the brain stem and in towards the back of the brain and is comprised of small lobes. It receives information from the balance system of the inner ear, sensory nerves, and the auditory and visual systems.

The frontal lobe of the brain is located at the front of the brain. The frontal lobes are extremely vulnerable to injury. The frontal lobes are the most common region of injury following mild to moderate traumatic brain injury.

The parietal lobe is located in the middle section of the brain. The parietal lobe is associated with processing tactile sensory information like pressure, touch, and pain.
